Happy Veterans Day!

It was a fun time celebrating our Veterans in class this week. We enjoyed making cards for the wonderful military people in our country. Take a look!

Exploring Shapes

We have been exploring shapes. The boys will show you!
Which plane shapes can stack? Which plane shapes can roll? Which plane shapes can slide?

rectangular prisms and cubes can stack and slide but can't roll
a sphere can roll, but can't slide or stack
a cone can roll and slide but can't stack
a cylinder can roll, stack, and slide

Then we got to build models with solid shapes. That was fun too! Take a look!

1.G.A.1

Geometry
Reason with shapes and their attributes.

1. Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size) ; build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.

1.G.A.2

Geometry
Reason with shapes and their attributes.

2. Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape. 1

I'll leave you with this joke:

Q: What did the triangle say to the circle?
A: Your pointless!
