Inquiry Activity
Animal research partner activity:
We looked through materials to learn about an animal in the forest or grassland habitat.
Then we wrote a story about living in the forest or grassland as the animal we researched. It was a lot of fun!
When we finished we shared our stories with a different partner!
Essential Question:
What do you know about the plants and animals that live in a forest or grassland habitat?

I'll leave you with this joke:
Q: What do polar bears eat for lunch?

Spring field experience
We had a fun time exploring the habitats right outside our window at Cole School.
Take a look at us in action!
Grade 2: Life Science
LS2. Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics
2-LS2-3(MA). Develop and use models to compare how plants and animals depend on their surroundings and other living things to meet their needs in the places they live.
Clarification Statement:
• Animals need food, water, air, shelter, and favorable temperature; plants need sufficient light, water, minerals, favorable temperature, and animals or other mechanisms to disperse seeds.

Mixing and separating matter
We investigated what happens when you mix matter together as well as, methods of separating mixtures.
Look below and see us trying to use different tools to separate salt, sand, rocks, and water. We could use a strainer, funnel, filter, or our fingers. Take a look at us in action and ask us about our results!

Why do fish swim in salt water?
I don’t know.
Pepper makes them sneeze.

Salt and water makes a solution that is hard to separate because the salt dissolves. |
But we did it! Ask us how! |
