Read Across America....Cole School style!

Fun Fact:

Today is National Read Across America Day and many students are celebrating through books and other events.

The National Education Association started this event in 1998. They picked March 2 since it's the birthday of Dr. Seuss, one of the most popular children's writers.

Many schools and libraries will participate in the celebration this week.

Hundred's Day!

We had a lot of fun celebrating 100's day (early).
As you can see we created many different displays of 100!
We also took our projects to the kindergarten classes to show off our work.
At the same time, we spoke to the kindergarten boys and girls and explained  how we created them.
The kindergarten teachers and students were very impressed!

Build on others’ talk in conversations by responding to the comments of others through multiple exchanges.
Ask questions to clear up any confusion about the topics and texts under discussion.

Froggy needs a vacation!

Our class frog needs a vacation. He is very cute and very easy to take care of.
Directions:
Feed him 2 pellets every 3 days.
Keep him in a warm place.
Keep movement of his tank to a minimum.
That's it!
Any takers?

100's day celebration

The 100^th day of school will be celebrated on Thursday, February 12^th. (It is no longer the 100th day of school but for our celebration purposes it is.) For 100’s day I am asking each child to put together a display of 100 items. You may simply want to put 100 items into a baggie or you may want to make a display of 100 items on a poster board or perhaps you want to build something with 100 “somethings”. The only thing I ask is that it fit on the top of your child’s desk, as that is where it will be displayed. In addition to the display, I will require that your child write at least 4 sentences about the project. What he writes is entirely up to him. Lastly it must come to school by February 11^th.

We will have an OPEN HOUSE on February 12^th to view our 100-day projects and anything else your child would like to show you.  Your child will host the Open House, so be sure to bring him with you. The Open House will be from 8:10-8:40am.

Below are some ideas from previous classes. However, anything goes, be creative!
