InspireScience

We have been learning about the Earth's surface in science. We have learned about land forms and oceans already. This week we started learning about the Earth's fresh water.
Look below to see our illustrations of ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, and glaciers. After illustrating our body of fresh water, we wrote one fact about it. Enjoy watching us inspired by science!

The Basics of Freshwater

Essential Question: Where is Earth's fresh water?

I'll leave you with this joke:  Why is the letter T like an island?
Because it is in the middle of water!!!

Fall Field Experience

We had a great time at our Fall Field experience!
We explored the fields......

                                                       We explored the Wetlands.........

And we explored the Forest........

Math

We are practicing addition using our base ten blocks and white boards.
One partner practices on the white board while the other partner practices with the base ten blocks. This helps us practice in two ways! We are getting good. In first grade we only added numbers to 100. In second grade we are already adding numbers to 1000! WOW!

Place value song for kids

2.NBT.B.7

Number & Operations in Base Ten
Use place value understanding and properties of operations to add and subtract.

7. Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.

Science in action!

We had a great time creating landforms in science! We have been learning about the continents, islands, mountains, hills, and plains. We have been investigating and journaling!
