Investigating weathering with rain

Inquiry activity, Model weathering
Purpose: Students will model the process of weathering by water.
What to expect: Students will use a pipette to drop single drops of water onto a sugar cube. Students will observe how the sugar cube changes shape as more drops are put on the cube. Students should start to see a change in the shape of the sugar cube after about 25 drops. They should see the sugar cube completely gone after about 175 drops.

* What did one raindrop say to the other?
– Two’s company. Three’s a cloud!
