We are learning about the Commutative property of addition

Our markers help us to see that 3 + 8 is equal to 8 + 3
That's the commutative property of addition!
It really just means that you can add numbers in any order.

8 + 2 = 10
2 + 8 = 10
8 + 2 = 2 + 8

Standard:
1.OA.B.3

Operations & Algebraic Thinking
Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.

3. Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. 2 Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.)
